Treatment Approach

Lesli is a caring therapist who uses skillful assessment and a variety of treatment techniques. By incorporating a holistic approach, the treatment is tailored to your individual needs, achieving health, harmony and well-being.

Years of experience as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), have taught me to listen carefully and work with skill and insight. Using different treatments for different concerns helps me to build a custom treatment plan around your needs.

My path to excellence

Continuing education has been a large part of my journey.

Armed with degrees in Physical Education and psychology I sought a practical application through Massage Therapy. After graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) in 1997 I quickly recognized that this was just the starting point and there was much more to the human body and its complexities. Thus embarking on a journey to expand my knowledge and skill set to become an expert in a variety of treatment techniques. So much so that she is a regular Teaching Assistant for a variety of postgraduate therapeutic massage courses.

More about Lesli

Overview of Lesli’s Practice

Lesli Is a caring Therapist who continually works to improve her manual therapy techniques skill set. Her interests gravitated towards more subtler techniques, with profound more systemic changes (affecting the whole being). Having a broad knowledge base allows Lesli to take a holistic approach, each treatment is tailored to your individual needs, depending on how a person presents at each session. Lesli has a unique skill set that allows her to assess her patients and determine the source of the issues. She has an understanding of what structures can be involved and may influence recovery.

Continuing Skills

Some of the techniques that she has studied and integrated into her practice include Advanced Cranial Therapy/Biodynamic Cranial Sacral (excellent for head trauma, headaches and TMJ/jaw problems); Visceral Manipulation (treating the organs); Muscle Energy Techniques (a gentle way to encourage proper alignment and motion in the spine, pelvis and ribs); Myofascial Release for connective tissues; Muscle Balance and Functional Development exercise system and Dermo Neuro Modulation (treating the nerves to help ease pain). To support her continued growth and knowledge base in massage therapy Lesli was involved in an ongoing study group that met monthly with a mentor who had been in practice for over 55 years (he was a Physiotherapist who knew a lot of stuff!)

Sharing Her Knowledge

To understand things there is no better way than to teach others massage therapy. Lesli has been involved in the profession as a Teaching Assistant since 2001. Some of the courses she has assisted with are Advanced Cranial Therapy (cranial sacral therapy); Visual Assessment (decoding the structural imbalances of posture); Simply TMJ (TMD/TMJ jaw dysfunction); Muscle Energy Techniques for the neck, low back and sacrum and ribs; Osteotech (introduction to osteopathic techniques) for the ribcage, arms and legs (joint mobilizations for the arm and leg complexes).

What to Expect

Things to expect during your massage therapy treatment time. Each treatment begins with a conversation about your concerns, and an overall body assessment to consider the best treatment plan for each session. Assessment is ongoing throughout the treatment as the body shifts new things may come to light that require attention. Open dialogue and input are encouraged, as working together is a sound approach to health and wellness. Lesli is concerned about wellness and not just treating a problem. Encouraging homeostasis, health and harmony is a long-term, ongoing treatment goal.

Masterful massage therapy

What do I do?

The following are examples of the areas of focus in my practice.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

This is a gentle full-body method of assessing and treating your body. From headache to low back pain this can be a valuable intervention.

Visceral Massage

The organs are connected and hang from the inside of our body. They flex and slide and require a small amount of mobility. When they are unhappy our musculoskeletal system often compensates and can cause pain and discomfort.

Muscle Energy Technique

An osteopathic technique that uses contract/relax for correcting somatic dysfunctions (joint dysfunctions) in the spine, pelvis and ribs.

Fascial Release

The body is wrapped throughout with connective tissue or fascia. Easing “restrictions” can increase mobility and decrease pain at rest and during movement.

TMJ / TMD

Are you having jaw pain or problems? Pain, clicking or snapping can occur in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). TMJ dysfunctions are complex and involve the joint itself and the soft tissues in the area but also your whole body can play a role in how it functions.

Core Exercises

Getting back on the gravitational plumb line puts the bones and tissues at their optimal functioning position. Let’s reset your “autopilot” posture to help get out of pain.
